Donald Trump didn’t coin the term “Fake News” but he’s sure taken it and made it his own. We all know the cable news stations and newspapers that he’s graced with this label, they’re the biggest, mainstream outlets. With one exception: Fox News. Of course, Fox News is the outlet that all the so-called fake news outlets claim is the real fake news. It’s also the only station that has a significant amount of host who are conservative. It’s also the station whose hosts tell their viewers not to take their word for it, but to investigate and watch other stations to try and get a bigger picture.
That last bit is the main thing that’s gotten me interested in digger a little. That, and Brian Stelter on CNN warning his viewers not to watch Fox at all. It makes perfect sense, of course. Why watch a news outlet which does nothing but lie to you? But, if Fox is lying, why are they encouraging their viewers to investigate to find out if what they say is true?
So, I’m going to start a new project. I’m going to watch various segments on Fox News, and do my best to fact check them. I’ll post links to the segments I watch one YouTube and we’ll try and see how fake they are.
The Twitter mob agrees with CNN and vocally condemns Fox, but the things they say make me wonder if they ever bother to actually watch more than a few seconds of footage without context.
I’m not so egotistical to think that people are going to flock to this page to follow my progress as I do this. This project is basically for my own reference, but anyone who happens to come across this page is welcome to read, watch and comment. If you’re someone from that Twitter mob, you’re welcome too, even if you disagree with everything I say. You’re also welcome to comment, but if you want anything to happen other than your comment being deleted out of hand without being approved, you’ll have to play by my rules. My rules are simple: It’s about discussion and reason, not insults. If you feel compelled to call me, or someone else who has commented, stupid (I’ve been called worse) then have some logical reason for doing so and explain that reason.
Also, before you even try, I’m about 30 years too young to be a Boomer.
So that’s what I’m going to do… but not tonight. I have to be up at 5:00 A.M. tomorrow and it’s too late to get started tonight, but I hope to get started tomorrow.
