Turn off Fox News!

“Turn off Fox News” isn’t the own that leftists & Democrats seem to think it is.

It just comes across like their understanding of how people gather information is 10-20 years out of date.

It reminds me of when, in 2023, Stephen King posted that pro-abortion argument from the 1980s, “If men could get pregnant, abortion would be sacrament.”

And was promptly slammed by the people he thought he was supporting, “Men CAN get pregnant, you bigot!”

And similar rebukes, reprimands & admonishments.

Notice that when he left Twitter/X, he cited the atmosphere becoming “too toxic”.

While he didn’t specify, it’s possible he meant, at least in part, his own team. That is, of course, speculation, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable. It isn’t wild speculation; it’s rather mild speculation.

Stephen King is one of several people who have ruined their work for me. I used to enjoy some of his writing. Now, I can’t read it. I don’t have a problem with his opposing opinion. I really don’t.

I have a problem with people who are so stuck in their own perspective that they aren’t open to information.

For example, the idea that abortion would be sacrament if men could get pregnant begs the question of why so many women are anti-abortion.

The country is split, roughly, between pro and anti abortion with most polls showing a slightly higher percentage of pro-abortion people.

Which means it’s probably close to even, or maybe even slightly more anti-abortion, since polls are conducted in urban and suburban areas, which lean Democrat and potentially skew poll results.

(For additional supporting evidence of that take on polls, look at pre-election polling vs. election results for every presidential election this century. The Democrat candidate never performs as well as pre-election polling suggests they will.)

Each side, both pro- and anti- abortion is close to being evenly split between women and men. If half of the anti-abortion side is women, what suggests that the ability to become pregnant makes a person pro-abortion? Especially if one actually understands where anti-abortion people come from – the idea that it’s a person and abortion is murder.

Both sexes are opposed to murder.

To believe as King does, you have to completely fail to understand the anti-abortion point of view.

This was intended to be a 4-line post, ending with “Men CAN get pregnant, you bigot!” but I’ve been too busy to really write this week and I found that my brain was a little backed up and I needed to express.

One last bit of self-expression.

I had a kitten who, about 8 years ago, had a blockage in his urethra. I had to take him to the vet, where he was catheterized. There was a minor issue when the vet went to put pressure on his bladder and as the vet was describing the issue, she referred to the action of empty his overly-full bladder as “expression”.

She encountered a problem when she went applied pressure to express his full bladder.

Like that.

I have never looked at acts of self-expression the same since. It is not an entirely inappropriate way of looking at things, as gross and vulgar as the imagery is.
