Obstructing a roadway during a protest is illegal in most places, but the law is seldom enforced.
It should be.
I’d support mandatory jail time if it can be shown that the protest prevented someone from getting to work, which is tantamount to hindering a person’s efforts to pay their rent, feed their children, make their car note, keep the lights on, etc.
Many people have a hard enough time doing these things already.
If a protest blocks a vehicle attempting to pass and surrounds the car in a menacing manner, the driver should be allowed to hit the gas. If anyone injured or killed, it should be legal self-defense.
I don’t want protestors harmed; I want them to get out of the way and stop harming others.
Their political agenda does not supersede the right of someone else to go on living their life unimpeded.
No matter how morally superior they believe their cause to be.
